Terry has been involved in a wide range of IT & Telecommunications projects both in Australia and Europe. Emphasis had been on managing the deployment of COTS (commercial off the shelf) IT systems (hardware and applications) through all project phases (initiation through project closure) with a strong emphasis on stakeholder management and follow up support to ensure satisfaction. Some of the projects Terry has been involved include:
IT Performance Requested to review a project in progress as going slow. Conducted a project review and root cause analysis of the issues and established a program of projects which became the policy within DHS (Victorian State Government)
Call Center Upgrade Upgrade of Avaya had stalled for 3 years and requested to finish the project. Adopted project rescue techniques and rectified the various issues within DHS then negotiated with vendors to complete project within 4 months of appointment.
Network Deployment Analysed why the network deployment was only 5 sites per week with root cause analysis and reconfiguring the Work Order System, SAP Business Intelligence and produced reports highlighting the issues. Recommendations on deployment order and loopback testing were also implemented ultimately resulting in 60 sites per week and resulted in the retention of the €600m license
Telecom Performance Management Systems Assigned the task of fixing client requirements for uptime and data availability of the Telecom Network Performance system. Initially stabilising and IT network and hardware issues, established IT systems monitoring, data collection and process monitoring with alarm system (made available to users using web based systems) to raise data load from 83% to over 99% with high level uptime. In addition managed regular interface upgrades and then migrated performance system to newer IBM generation which required IBM to release . Knowledge and efficiency saw nomination by Orange Management as the Centre fore Excellence. Technical paper led to TMForum forming standards group and one reviewer shared with leading telecoms companies to influence 4G equipment features.
SAP Business Intelligence Technical Department expert – Identified the unused licenses within Dutchtone / Orange NL and set up a test system leading to its approval as the Quality Assurance reporting tool. A data warehouse for the Network Performance application was then installed and I built interfaces into other databases, set up the report templates and version controls and conducted advance report development workshops (for users). This resulted in a Radio Optimisation report with around 80 graphs and tables and enormous efficiency gains which became a reference point for sister companies.
CRM ARS Remedy expert Dutchtone was an new operator and required a high performance ticketing / work order system. Responded to an executive decision to utilise an existing France Telecom product with local modifications. Conducted user requirements, customised accordingly, tested, built internal to application Crystal Report for user reports, built the SAP BI interface for QA / executive reports and provided staff training. The application was well received and remained operational with minimal modifications, in the following years.
Project managed the delivery of the Nokia 3G Packet Core Deployment. Assigned project months behind original start date and identified missing interfaces within the program. Rectified oversight and negotiated the Nokia purchase and implementation. Nokia delivery practices were sub optimal and applied appropriate pressure across Europe to successfully deliver two days ahead of interfaces and followed up with deployment issues with Nokia Global Quality Assurance. Nokia changed delivery practices worldwide and the following 4 Nokia projects proceeded without incident.
